Richard Heathfield has been contributing to comp.lang.c on a reasonably consistent basis (ish) since 1999. He is the principal author of "C Unleashed", having written approximately a quarter of the text in that book. He is also a curmudgeon, but suffers from occasional flashes of humanity, which he tries hard to obscure.
He is a pedant, and proud of the fact. Pedantry is an essential skill for programmers.
He is also rather grumpy (like, even more grumpy than usual) if you catch him at a time when he hasn't recently been placated by coffee.
He is also perfectly capable of calling a spade a manually-operated agricultural excavation implement, so beware. He is sometimes intoxicated by the exuberance of his own verbosity.
Best avoided before lunch.
